Since protests have sprouted globally in opposition of police brutality in the U.S., we’ve seen the best and worst sides of people.

This is the ugly.,

Per Newsone:

As if the protests and their fallout weren’t enough, some St. Louis area residents claim to have stumbled upon notes that were scrawled with racially biased holiday-themed messages, according to the Riverfront Times.

Rosemary Nietes, who was raised in Ferguson–the hot bed where black teen Michael Brown was gunned down by police officer Darren Wilson last summer–told the newspaper that she found a handwritten note on the windshield of her vehicle on December 23. It read, “Christmas is pure bred white ni***r sh*t.”

“It scared me quite a bit. It made me shake all the way to work. This is Dogtown neighborhood, I’ve lived here 22 years and never had such things happen,” said Nietes, who admitted that the unsettling note unnerved her to the core. “With everything that’s going on, it made me pretty nervous,” she stated. “I just have to understand that it’s not personal. I think it’s very random.”

Feeling very shaken by the message and convincing herself that she could be the singled out target of someone’s hate, Nietes contacted the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department. They squelched her fears by assuring her she was not being singled out because there were other similar reports.

Brian Villa also received a similar note on his car days before Nietes did, but he accepted the entire situation with levity. Villa’s note read, “Christmas is white ni***r sh*t.”

Even though the notes were written in different colored ink, police state, the handwriting on both is similar. The cases are reportedly still being investigated.
